I was reminded by an opencare ad that I had not been to a dentist in at least two years. I appreciate the last dentist I had but he was really my son’s dentist and I would squeeze in for a cleaning here and there. It’s time for me to establish care with a provider of my choice, a vibe I enjoy (I don’t care if my dentist is family/kid friendly) and preferably something close to my downtown office. Using Opencare I found Bay Area Smile in a matter of minutes, checked reviews and images and booked my first appointment. They were able to verify my insurance ahead of time and I was able to complete all of the documentation online so I walked in and was treated like a regular! Dr. Quinn Su is AMAZING. She was so kind and friendly but most importantly she took her time, was extremely thorough from X-rays to imaging, spent time examining AND explaining what was going on with each tooth. We discussed everything from changing my floss to planning for a custom night guard. I was originally feeling embarrassed that I hadn’t been to a dentist in so long but Dr. Quinn Su made me feel so comfortable I scheduled my next 3 appointments and procedures! Truly grateful for Open Care!

Family run

I am very happy and impressed by Dr. Su’s compassionate approach, as well as keen problem solving. A previous dentist dismissed my issue, stating they couldn’t find anything wrong on an xray and didn’t recommend treatment or acknowledge my pain. I was in pain for weeks. The same issue came up and I went to Dr. Su, who didn’t see anything on the xray either, but listened to me. She used an alternate detection method, found the issue, and quickly, effectively resolved it. It was immediate relief and I am extremely grateful. I came back for a thorough exam, and her ability to recognize the root causes of issues, explain them simply, and walk through treatment options made me feel very personally and well taken care of. The other staff are also friendly, courteous, and professional.

First time in and am impressed by the thoroughness of Dr. Sunga and support staff (the receptionist and dental assistant.) They explained my dental health status matter of factly while being gentle and precise — I don’t believe I’ve ever had my gum pockets measured so evidently until this appointment. Dr. Sunga was also able to provide new findings that are concerning but make sense given how different things become as an older adult. I feel more inspired to take better care of myself.

State of the art dentistry with the most pleasant staff. I wish I found them sooner.

I arrived 20 minutes early, as instructed, to complete the new patient forms. I was handed an iPad and asked to fill out a lengthy questionnaire. Despite explaining that the last section didn’t apply to me, the front desk staff kept insisting I complete it anyway. I ended up spending over 40 minutes just on that. When I tried to clarify, they argued instead of listening. Admittedly, I got frustrated and responded rudely but the situation was poorly handled. To top it off, the doctor seemed rushed. Not a great first impression. Just stay away, I came here because of the great review but had a bad experience.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. I felt safe and was very happy as the dentist explained several important habitual regular cleaning techniques I was not doing everyday.
