Dr. David Maycher

Dr. Maycher graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba in 1978. Since then he has owned and operated practices in both Winnipeg and Vancouver, taught dentistry at the University of Manitoba for eight years, and served as a long-time member of the Dentistry Ethics Committee in Manitoba. He has also been a part time clinical instructor at the UBC Faculty of Dentistry. In his free time, Dr. Maycher enjoys playing golf, hockey, cycling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Why should patients choose you as their provider instead of others in the area?

I have a great deal of experience in the dental industry, from running multiple dental clinics to teaching at U of M and UBC to being a part of dental board ethics committee. I take pride in being able to help my patients in the best way that I can, with conservative treatment plans, while maintaining integrity and staying within my patient's budget. My patients always feel comfortable with their treatment plans and dental work.

What are you proud of in your practice?

In my dental practice, I am proud to say that we focus on more than just your teeth and gums - our hygienists are trained to look at our patients overall health and well-being in addition to their oral health. We go above and beyond with our treatment plans and recommendations. We have two naturopathic doctors and a chiropractor in-house so that we can give our patients more than just a cleaning or a filling. At Bay Dental Centre, we focus on our patients whole health and we have some very long-standing patients spanning 20-40yrs (some have even come all the way from Manitoba!).

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

The cases that I find the most fulfilling and successful are those patients who have not been able to make it to a dentist for an extended period of time or who are very anxious about any type of dental work. They may or may not have financial barriers but they are interested in receiving dental care and open to working together to find the best solution for their conditions. I find these cases the most satisfying and fulfilling to work on because it truly is a partnership between myself and the patient reaching a point where they are happy and comfortable with their teeth and smile.
