Dr. Karyn Mai

Dr. Karyn Mai grew up in Seattle, where she attended the University of Washington as a Gates Millennium Scholar and earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative History of Ideas. She then moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she graduated with honors from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. Mai completed additional training through a general practice residency at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland, OH. She is trained in implant placement and restoration, endodontic and orthodontic (braces & aligners) treatments, and is certified in the Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique to correct gum recession and Facial Esthetics injections (Botox, Fillers, PDOs) for cosmetic and therapeutic purposes.

My dental philosophy is centered on honesty/transparency, prevention and education (knowledge is power!), and patient comfort and communication. Dental anxiety and lack of trust/transparency is rampant in dentistry. My commitment to my patients is making sure they always feel in control in their health and have a pathway to a comfortable and confident smile!

What are the top 3 treatments that you focus on?

I love esthetic treatments and nurturing confidence in the treatments that I do. My top 3 are crowns and veneers, facial rejuvenations with injectables (botox, fillers, pdo threads), and Invisalign clear aligners and braces.

Which cases do you enjoy treating? Why?

We change lives everyday! For me, I enjoy transformational cases where I get to be on a journey to change the way a person functions and feels about themselves. Whether it's changing a smile with veneers, dental bondings, orthodontics or facial esthetics (botox, fillers, PDO threads), I love the artistic nature of the process. It's a great creative outlet for me to carry out a mutual vision of science and art. It can get emotional by the end!
