Dr. Tomas Anderkvist is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry where he is the former Course Director of Occlusion ISP. Dr. Anderkvist received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree in 1991 from the U.S.C. School of Dentistry, and a second D.D.S. degree from Caroline Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. He graduated at the TOP of his dental school class in 1991. Because of his accomplishments in school, he was accepted to a very sought-after specialist program in prosthodontics. He received his Advanced Specialty degree in prosthodontics from U.S.C. School of Dentistry in 1994. He has maintained a private practice in Westwood, Los Angeles since 1995 where he practices Aesthetic, Family dentistry, implants, and full mouth reconstructions. He is a renowned lecturer, author of articles published in peer-review journals, and recipient of numerous awards and honors. He presented his published implant research at IADR (International Association for Dental Research) in Chicago. A prosthodontist is a dental specialist who has received three or more years of doctoral post-training. The training is on complete mouth rehabilitations, crowns and bridges, implants, dentures, TMJ treatment, and cosmetic dentistry. It’s intense and vigorous training, beyond the norms of a normal dentist degree. I had a great experience at Westwood Dental Smiles. The staff was super flexible and polite with finding a date that worked with my demanding job and schedule. When I arrived, the front desk personnel greeted me with warmth and friendliness, which started my visit off on a positive note. The women who did my x-rays was extremely kind, warm and highly present which severely lessened my dental anxiety, talking to me and explaining things every step of the way. I had the same experience with the women who didn't my cleaning- she was kind, considerate and accommodating which made my typical dental anxiety go away. The dentist himself was also nice, intelligent and informative, and unlike other dentists i've had in the past, did not try to squeeze additional money out of me for cavities and other dentals issues I did not have. He was reasonable and fair, and he did a good job explaining exactly what I needed to do moving forward. Overall I had an awesome experience and will definitely continue going back. I have also and will continue to recommend this place to everyone due to how pleasant my usually unpleasant experience was.2
