By this time he had grown to love London and decided to settle here permanently. He worked as an associate dentist for two years and established his own practice in 1981. In the ensuing years Charles remained deeply committed to continuing education and achieved the following fellowships: Fellow, International College of Dentists; Fellow, International College of Oral Implantology; Fellow, Academy of General Dentistry; Fellow, Academy for Implants and Transplants; Fellow, Academy of Dentistry International. He also completed his M.B.A. at the Ivey School of Business, the University of Western Ontario, in 1996. I was referred to Dr.Lin from my dentist because he has had trouble freezing me in the past and has been using Dr. Lin's services for many years. I was nervous at first because of my previous experiences with my dentist but Dr. Lin assured me that things would be fine and he was right. Dr. Lin had no trouble freezing me, it was painless and I have also had painless root canals done with Dr. Lin. He is very professional and has an outstanding staff as well. I no longer am afraid of dentist!

He treated me very poorly, and was rude to his own staff. Extremely condescending and made me very uncomfortable. Thank goodness my own son is becoming a dentist so I never have to see him again.

My hygienist Janice is wonderful. She is very down to earth and has a nice gentle touch. Love the way my teeth feel after leaving her chair. She is the main reason we (and my extended family members) keep coming back. Thank-you Janice.

Dr. Lin has attended to both my family and I for the last 15 years and has done so in a highly proficient and conscientious manner. His conduct and that of his staff has been beyond reproach in all facets of his practice. In light of such disparaging and malicious accusations, I was compelled to verify the outcome of the cases referred to in the previous post. Upon further investigation, both the Dental Association and Small Claims court deemed that the claims were baseless and without merit. In these highly litigious times that we live, individuals should exercise a greater degree of caution before maligning a person’s character. Such thoughtless behaviour provides no apparent benefit, yet may encourage unwelcomed responses or reprisals from the wronged party. Occurrences of character defamation appear to be on the rise and if left unchallenged, these incidences will continue to inspire such reckless conduct that anyone of us could be the next victim.

It's called Medical Narcissism when medical worker behaves in the manner described in some comments. They cannot be helped even if professionally treated for this disorder (NPD). The best thing to do is not deal with such people at all.

Money hungry type. I had to sue him (Court File No. SCC-1129/09)to recoup the money to re-glue his work. He would not take responsibility for his own work. It was everybody else s fault, according to him. Charged me more than the recommended maximum of his Dental Association for some work. When I complained about his treatment(File No. C090046S) he cried racism. Recommended expensive treatments because he has the equipment(like laser) and wanted to replace a good crown, said it was decaying. An independent examination showed no decay present. I'm still having problems with the work he did. After observing his behaviour and affect during my ordeal with him, I believe he has a personality issue detrimental to patients.

I have been taken care of by Dr. Lin for the past 25 years. He has done removals, fillings, and the preparations for and then put teeth on my implants. I am very happy with the results, and my implants were the best thing for my situation. They feel wonderful--just like my own teeth. I almost never think about them, which is the best sign you can have about something like that. Before finding Dr. Lin I tried two other dentists in this city but I found Dr. Lin to be the best. He assessed my problems carefully and talked with me about possible approaches, and I am truly happy that he did, because I feel that I can go many more years and continue to avoid serious teeth problems (I am 65 now). For me, Dr. Lin has been the best dentist I have had, and this has been the time in my life that I have had the most problems with my teeth.

Moving here from Calgary where we had outstanding dental care, we were referred by friends to Dr. Lin. Friendly reception but a fairly long wait in the chair before either a hygienist sees you or one of the dentists. Second visit with hygienist and I didn't feel my teeth were cleaned, just a cursory scrape here and there. Had toothache under crown in August and made 3 expensive visits to Dr. Lin and his associates who gave me strong antibiotics and in October Dr. Lin finally told me it was 'chronic.' I was in waiting room 30 minutes and in the chair 1 hour before I saw him and he said perhaps under my crown should be aggressively cleaned but he didn't have the time. More drugs and come back in 3 weeks. Decided to try another 'referred' dentist who, in one hour, told me my condition was not chronic, and tried a procedure that has given me instant relief and he also said he would refer me to a specialist at UWO if ineffective. I'm ecstatic. I'm underwhelmed with Dr. Lin's care.

Dr.Lin is an amazing dentist--he is incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, kind and interested in whatever it is you are sharing with him. Though at times I may wait to see him, I know that he gives each patient the time that is needed and is always respectful of patients and their families. All of the staff are so ahppy and friendly, everyone looks like they just love their jobs. His hygienists are both so nice and the cleanings are always excellent. I consider myself very fortunate to have found this dentist and his great team.

I have just been to Dr. Lin for the first time. I just had a cleaning done by his assistant. The cleaning wasn't 100% done. I asked him why and he said that it's hard to get off in the folds of the tooth. For heaven's sake...if the total cost of a cleaning is $300.00 without insurance, and I paid the $58.00 myself (80% coverage) why wouldn't they completely clean your teeth at this office? This is the first time from him that I heard of a dentist leaving you with partially clean teeth. The next time I go in, which is nine months from today, I will have them clean the rest of what they left, for free...I can assure you that. Or....I may look elsewhere for someone to care for my teeth. He does prioritize what is necessary for your teeth and what's not important at the time. I find his "cleanings" rather expensive. To say the least.

money hungry dentist! care given to patient is always secondary to money. Likes to recommend expensive treatments because he has the equipment in his office. new offices have absolute minimum for positive patient experience. looks like it was built on the cheap when compared to other professional dental office.

I too, do not understand some of the previous ratings for Dr. Lin. I have been going to see Dr. Lin for my entire life (so, a good 20 years), and have never had any problems with him or the staff (Donna and the rest of the reception, the hygienists and the assistants are all great). Dr. Lin is very amicable and easy to talk to. Sometimes the wait for the check-up can be a bit lengthy (10-15 mins), but I think that is because the office is always busy. During check-ups he always takes time to answer any questions and to (if he knows you well enough) catch up, on a more personal level, from the previous appointment. Fillings and tooth extractions with Dr. Lin are also not a problem -- quick and (relatively) painless -- that needle always pinches a bit! The only thing that I don't like is the wait time to get a surgery (such as wisdom tooth extraction) with Dr. Lin because his schedule is so full! I am looking forward to taking my kids to him when they're of the age to see the dentist.

My only visit to Dr. Lin resulted in me returning to my lifelong dentist, over an hour away ... Dr. Lin wanted to replace my silver fillngs with white ones ... since I had been to my lifelong dentist only six months beofore this I was pretty sure that my fillings were not damaged. My lifelong Dentist did a check up for me free of charge because I had just paid Dr. Lin, and found that my fillings were just fine and that white fillings would only last as long as the life I had left in my silver fillings. This happened over fifteen years ago, and guess what ... I still have my silver fillings!

My mother who is a senior, had badly infected teeth/gums and was in severe pain and she called her dentists' office and the receptionist told her they couldn't see her till "next week!"She waited to call the whole long weekend and that's the answer she got from her on Tuesday. She had to go to a strange dentist, to get fixed up. Terrible treatment, for a very sick lady. :( (My own dentist in Brampton, gives out his home # in case of emergency.) This treatment was pathetic and I am really upset. I wonder if the dentist even knew she treated her that way, but either way, the dentist should not have an employee that is this insenstiive.

I have been going to Dr. Lin for 21 years. Before I left Alberta a speclist gave me 5 - 8 years before my teeth would have to be pulled. Well due to Dr. Lin 21 years later I still have most of the teeth I came to him with. My gums are very good as well. I have had numerous fillings and 3 root canels with no problems. I would recommend him to anyone any time.
