Friendly, service centric office. Dr. Chan has a great chair side manner. Explained treatment necessary and was very gentle. Staff is very courteous.

Dr. Chan has been our family dentist for over 35 yrs. With his retirement in the future, I has to find another dentist. The dental office I was referred to by my dental insurance was awful. I spent over $1800 for a toothache & teeth cleaning with a recommendation to schedule extraction of my molar with their Oral Surgeon for another $900. I asked for a second opinion from Dr. Chan of Smilehaven in La Mesa. Dr. Chan was able to fit me with a crown so my molar did not need to be extracted. Excellent dental service.

This was the best dentist experience I've ever had. They really cared about helping making it more comfortable and Dr Chan cares about your whole well being. They also did a good job of communicating and getting me in and out.

I don’t going to the dentist for a few reasons. The main one being individuals with heavy hands. The drs touch was gentle and light. He was also very communicative on getting involved with my insurance to help cover a costly procedure. 5 stars from me!

Very knowledgeable doctor and the staff are great. First, they don't pressure you to buy other services, I got a couple recommendations and was asked if I wish to make an appointment or buy the recommended teeth care but no pressure. My teeth needed lots of help and he did a great job.

I have known Dr. Chan for over a year and he is very knowledgeable with dentistry and how your mouth affects your entire body. He uses traditional techniques and also overlays them with his holistic approach to how your mouth and fillings (mercury possibly) can affect your body. His office is located conveniently off Spring Street in La Mesa and is also next to the trolley station.

I've always had pretty healthy teeth but I've still always disliked going to the dentist. I was told I had several cavities but not all of them needed to be filled. I've been to other dentists that insisted I get a ton of work, only to be contradicted by a second opinion, so it was nice that Dr. Chan was honest and took care of me. I liked that he went over my diet and nutrition and suggested some vitamins and nutrients I could benefit from.

Dr. Chan takes time to clean my teeth very thoroughly and when he placed my crowns, he takes time to make sure they fit correctly. He has safely removed all my mercury fillings and helped me detox. I was always having sinus issues and body aches. Now I am feeling much better. I think he is right, your health starts in the mouth. Recommend him highly!

Dr. Chan is an amazing dentist he listened to my needs and got the job done , i had glue stuck on my teeth from having braces. and i explained to the dr that everyone usually wants to over charge me and he offered to Charge me only for the dental cleaning and gave me the complementary glue strip off. he seriously did an amazing job i definitely recommend him!!! his work is fabulous THANK YOU DOCTOR CHAN!!!

I HIGHLY recommend SMILE HAVEN DENTAL CENTER and DR. CHAN who was referred to me by my fantastic endodontist, Dr. Gavin's office. Dr. Chan and his staff were professional and CARING for me and my 2 teenage daughters. Because Dr. Chan cares so much about our health, he won't use silver/mercury amalgams. Instead he uses composites but doesn't charge double like all the other dentists! He charges the amalgam rate (about 1/2 the price), so I had 2 of the amalgams removed for my older daughter and one replaced for me. DR. CHAN is VERY ETHICAL. i CHANGED dental offices, from Great Smiles of La Mesa, to Smile Haven. Why? Because Great Smiles wanted my daughter to come back 3 times to have 8 custom fillings done at a copay of $2,O00! I couldn't believe it, so I want to 3 different dentists for a second opinion and ALL 3 told me that she only needed surface 1 or surface 2 composites for 3 teeth with a "watch" on the 4th. That's a HUGE difference and I filed a grievance about Great Smiles of La Mesa with our delta dental costco plany. Of these 3 dental offices, we chose Dr. Chan at Smile Haven because of his concern for our health and pocket book, as well as his expertise in cosmetic dentristy. My daughter has cavities on her front teeth and filling them correctly makes a BIG difference in appearance too! THANK YOU DR. CHAN! You saved us over $2,000, time and agony! We're blessed to have you as our dentist.
