About

"I am the son of Dr Ted Malfair, a retired Kelowna Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine, and Amelia Malfair, a retired Public Health Nurse. I have two brothers: David and James. I grew up here in town until I graduated from KLO in 1987 and moved to UBC Vancouver to further my studies. During my 10 year stay at UBC, I completed a BSc in Microbiology in 1991 and a DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) in 1997. I was a member of the UBC Varsity Rowing crew while there. After practicing dentistry for 5 years on Vancouver Island, I returned to my roots by coming back to Kelowna with my wife Violeta in 2002. We have since had two wonderful sons (Dominic and Julien) and enjoy an active family life including cycling, hiking, golfing, skiing, basketball, paddle boarding, and traveling. All of us love it here in this wonderful community and are all very involved in the community. In 2002, I decided to take over my childhood dentist’s (Dr Al Labounty) practice following his retirement." "I am very passionate about dentistry and continually strive to learn and improve my knowledge. Together with my dedicated, caring and highly skilled team, we work hard to provide awesome dental care. This focus on achieving great outcomes flows from our focus on great listening and communication with patients. You will be heard and well cared for in my dental practice."

Very thorough, the best dentist I’ve been to so far.

One of my best dental experiences. Super friendly and welcoming staff. Would recommend to all.

Great staff, informative and friendly. Would recommend to friends and family looking for a dentist in Kelowna.

Dr. Malfair is a personable dentist and takes the time to explain to you what he’s doing after making his assessment. His staff are wonderful to be around.

Dr Stephen and the team were professionals. Absolute easy process, polite and skilled. I would like to visit them again.

Dr. Malfair was very friendly and respectful to my needs as a patient. His team was very good at making me feel comfortable and welcomed and overall it was an excellant experience.

Fast, efficient care. Everyone was nice!

Dr. Stephan was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. He answered any question I had truly and gave me the impression he cares about his customers and job.

To be honest, I only signed up to be a new patient with Dr. Malfair because there was a promotion for a gift card when you got your teeth cleaned and checked. However, I am SO glad that I did this because I recently moved to Kelowna and needed a new dentist - and I am extremely happy with Dr. Malfair and his staff at Love Your Smile! Dr. Malfair's initial dental evaluation was the most thorough and comprehensive that I have ever had. In. My. Life. That being said, I did not feel that unnecessary services were pushed onto me. As well, because of some previous dental experiences, I can get panicked and hyperventilate when certain types of procedures are done - having a dental dam inserted is one such situation. However, Dr. Malfair and the hygienist were extremely patient and understanding AND the two fillings I had were completely opposite experiences to previous ones at another dentist. If I had just one wish, it would be that Love Your Smile had more hours. They are not open Friday nor during school-related holidays (such as spring break, PD days, etc). I understand the personal reasons behind this but if, like me, you are someone who uses Fridays or school holidays for appointments, this will require more juggling on your part to arrange your appointments. However, it is definitely worth the extra effort. The only negative feedback I have is for the lady who spoke with me regarding a billing issue. (It was NOT Colleen who is at the front desk - she is such a sweetheart!) I was in the office for a filling and an impression to get a night guard. I was going to be away for an extended period (two months) and the night guard wouldn't be ready before I left. After the filling and top impression for the night guard was done, I asked if the night guard could be ordered and paid prior to my trip, even though I would receive it until after I returned. I was told I couldn't pay for the night guard before it came in, which I accepted. However, I did comment to the dental hygienist that it was unfortunate I couldn't pay that day as I had dental benefits that would be expiring during my absence. The hygienist was being very considerate when she took it upon herself to go and explain the situation to the lady who takes care of billing. The lady came storming in and started loudly berating me saying that I was asking them to commit fraud and accusing me of being okay with fraud but that they would not do that. As I replied calmly and firmly with a half-frozen mouth that I would never ask them to do anything that would be fraudulent, she continued to loudly go on and on about it and berate me. She then told the hygienist that they would not hold my guard for two months and to throw away the one impression they had taken and not take the other one. I was stunned and embarrassed by her false accusations, but too exhausted to address her behavior that day. This was the only negative experience that I had at Dr. Malfair's practice that I wanted to mention. Fortunately, the rest of the staff were nothing but wonderful, friendly and welcoming.

Dr. Malfair is very thorough and went over everything in great detail and patiently. Also, the staff is wonderful and the overall experience was very good.

Dr. Malfair was super nice and kind. He was honest about my teeth and what work needs to be done. The receptionist made a bad comment about how I couldn't come in until August for a cleaning but everyone else was great. Maybe she was just having a bad day.

Great dentist. Wonderful staff. It would be a perfect score but they don't direct bill.

The whole experience was great. I felt well looked after from the booking with the front desk, to the service/welcome upon my arrival and the friendly and easy going interactions with both Page and Dr. Malfair. After the initial assessment, Dr. Malfair did a great job of walking me through what he looked at and his assessment of my situation. It was easy to follow along and I felt comfortable during the whole experience.

Very personable and thorough.

Everyone at the office was very welcoming and made me feel valued as an individual.
