Dr. Derek Bouma was born and raised in Provost Alberta, a small town of around 2000 people, an hour south of Lloydminster. There he enjoyed playing hockey, quading, and snowmobiling. Growing up, Dr. Bouma helped his dad and grandfather in their respective family businesses, which taught him a lot about the importance of a strong work ethic, quality service, and customer care. Dr. Bouma began his post-secondary studies at the University of Alberta, ultimately graduating from Griffith University in the Gold Coast of Australia. While completing his Graduate Diploma of Dentistry, he was selected to work with the Royal Flying Doctors Service under New South Wales Health, which provided fly-in, fly-out dental services to very remote areas of New South Wales. Dr. Bouma also worked with Queensland Health and volunteered his dental services to First Nations communities through Hope4Health. Dr. Derek Bouma enjoys all aspects of dentistry, but especially getting to know his patients and building solid and long-lasting relationships with them. To Dr. Bouma, there is no greater satisfaction than showing his patients the mirror at the end of a procedure and seeing the smile on their faces.
