Dr. Pelin Montero

Dr. Pelin Montero was born in North Carolina while her parents were doing research at UNC Dental for Orthodontics. She later moved to Geneva, Switzerland, but eventually grew up in Sydney, Australia. Dr. Montero was born into dentistry with her father a Professor of Orthodontics and Dean of Orthodontics at the University of Sydney and her mother a Pediatric Dentist, and, by age 20, she was already assisting her father and developing her own passion for the profession. She completed her undergraduate degrees at the University of Sydney in Gender Studies and Digital Cultures before getting her Doctorate in Dental Medicine in Phoenix, Arizona. During dental school at Midwestern, Dr. Montero took part in several volunteering opportunities including a trip to the Kingdom of Tonga to help the underserved with dental care. She also participated in Give Kids a Smile (GKAS), a nationally recognized event in which underserved children receive free oral health services. She is certified in Invisalign and THOR Laser Therapy and is a member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Education Association. Among her many awards and achievements are the Dean's Clinician Award representing the outstanding efforts of a fourth-year dental student in patient care, as well as the 2018 Digital Dentistry Award, Exit Interview Master Award at Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine, the "Wing Woman Award" Second Place in Simulation Clinic Practical Assessment. Dr. Montero specializes in CAD/CAM Digital Dentistry and Cosmetic Dentistry. Composite veneers are her favorite restorative procedure and she challenges anyone to find her work in her patients’ natural smiles. Her dental philosophy is to create an atmosphere of utmost comfort for her patients. She loves getting to know each person she cares for and understanding their dental goals. Every patient is different, and her goal is to make each feel comfortable and well taken care of. She strives to empower her patients by giving them the knowledge to take ownership of their dental care and working as a team to provide the highest quality dentistry. Dr. Montero loves linguistics and traveling around the world learning about different cultures through language. She speaks three languages fluently – Turkish, French and English – and she’s studied German and Spanish. Aside from being a citizen of the world, Dr. Montero is an official citizen of Turkey, Australia and the US. Dr. Montero and her husband chose to live in the Bay Area because they both fell in love with the city, the people and zest for life that California culture offers. When she’s not caring for her patients, her husband and her Min Pin Dolce escape the bustle of the city by camping and hiking, immersing themselves in silence, tranquility and the beauty of nature. She and her husband are avid home cooks and total foodies. She practices yoga and is passionate about living a life that is as waste and chemical-free as possible!

I believe that my patients deserve the best dentistry possible and that patient experience is key to my success as a doctor. I’m dedicated to making sure each of my patients feels relaxed, comfortable and confident in the treatment. To that goal, I enjoy explaining each diagnosis and encourage my patients to ask any questions they may have. I also strive to empower my patients with the knowledge to take control of their health. I focus on prevention and use nutrition as a tool to help patients overcome long-term dental issues such as gum disease, loss of teeth and cavities. I love people and seek to develop lasting professional relationships with my patients.

At Total Health, we do everything under one roof. Our team of specialists do everything from periodontal treatments to oral surgery, orthodontic and implants.

What are you proud of in your practice?

I am proud of the excellent dentistry and exceptional experience we provide. Our patients rave about us on Yelp and Google. It’s fulfilling to see a new patient come in with some level of anxiety and leave feeling 100% comfortable with and confident in the cleaning or treatment. Our patients leave feeling good about themselves. They leave smiling.

Since dentistry is a combination of science and art, every case is fulfilling. I really love helping people. It’s an incredible feeling to see a patient smile with confidence and genuine happiness after an office visit.
